Blalock Building Company
awarded School Projects
Published
March 31, 2010
On Friday, March 26, 2010, the Shelby County Board of
Education approved Blalock Building Company to take over the
$3.9 million dollar school additions for Thompson High
School. Also, on March 31, 2010, the Birmingham Board of
Education approved Blalock Building Company to take over the
new $8.9 million dollar Glenn K-8 School and the new $4.2
million dollar high school Athletic Complex located at
Carver High School.
As quoted by Steven Blalock, President of Blalock Building
Company, Inc., “while we are grateful for the work, the
real story is we have lost one of Alabama’s premier
contractors: McCrory Building Company.” McCrory was a
multi-million dollar company and the jobs lost in the State
and locally are another blow to the construction industry.
We have retained some of McCrory’s employees to complete
these projects and more, should the economy allow.
The Shelby County Board of Education approved a plan
that allows Blalock Building Company to take over a
classroom addition and renovation project at Thompson High
School in Alabaster.
